Today’s new homes: 1,000 sq feet larger than 40 years ago

Not only are new homes 1,000 square feet larger than they were 4 decades ago, living space per person has doubled on average: from 507 to 987 square feet using the median size home, and from 551 to 1,059 square feet using the average size home.
